Curriculum from Below: bringing Community Education into Existence
This report seeks explores the work of the Community Education Programme (CEP) through the lens of curriculum. It documents the process of curriculum design from lived experiences in local communities in the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan, Port Elizabeth, South Africa. It argues for an approach to curriculum as praxis — intentional intellectual and practical work to construct an educational space for resistance and social change. It proposes a process of curriculum design that speaks to alternative social relations based on a new conception of the relationship between education, work and society.
