MOJA Hosts Workshop on Communications
8 September 2023 | MOJA Africa
A three-day communications workshop, hosted by MOJA Adult Education Africa, took place at Goedgedacht in Malmesbury, Cape Town, South Africa. The purpose of the workshop was to pilot and test the digital communications handbook that MOJA has developed. The workshop was attended by 11 adult educators from six different organizations.
The first two days of the workshop covered writing skills, including research, interviews, ethics, privacy of information, and editing. The third day featured a newsroom production session where stories were packaged for social media and mainstream outlets using video, graphics, and audio recordings. The sessions were hands-on and practical, involving group work and the crafting of articles for posting on various platforms.
Here's what some participants had to say about the workshop: "It was practical and hands-on, and I can apply what I learned in my organization immediately."
MOJA will use feedback from the workshop to finalize the Adult Educator’s Communications Handbook and refine its online offerings before beginning the training rollout in the latter half of 2023.
